(November 7, 2001) Hutchison Global Crossing (HGC) and Panyu Telecom today organized a seminar on their Guangdong-Hong Kong International Private Leased Circuit (Guangdong-Hong Kong IPLC) Service at the Clifford Hotel in Panyu, Guangdong. Co-organized by the two companies, the aim of the seminar was to enhance market awareness and promote this efficient new IPLC Service to potential customers.
The seminar was held to follow-up on the enthusiastic response to the August IPLC seminar held at the China Hotel, Guangzhou. In order to satisfy the requirements of customers from different provinces, HGC specially organized this seminar to provide more factory manufacturers and business operators with details of how to leverage the latest telecommunications technology to grow their businesses.
Speakers at the seminar included representatives from China Telecom, Panyu Telecom and HGC. They provided a broad introduction to the specification and applications of the IPLC Service, and shared their views on the huge potential offered by IPLC in streamlining business operations. The seminar attracted representatives from factories of various scales in different industries, including electronics, toys and textiles, proving that IPLC services are appropriate to every size and type of company.
After the handover, the relationship between China and Hong Kong becomes inseparable. Both governments plan to make different measures to boost the economics and trading activities between the two regions. On the China side, Beijing recently announced a six-point package aimed at promoting business and other links between Beijing and Hong Kong. Meanwhile, the Hong Kong SAR Government is considering the advantages of a 24-hour open border. All these developments anticipate rapidly growing economic and trade connections between Mainland and Hong Kong enterprises. With China¡¦s imminent entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO), the market will become even more open and generate a rapidly increasing demand for telecommunications services, and especially international communications between the Mainland and the World.
In line with these developments, as the major telecommunications operator in Hong Kong, HGC officially launched the Guangdong-Hong Kong IPLC Service in February 2001, aiming to provide an enhanced communications network with high-quality, efficient and reliable inter-regional communications solutions to help companies in China and Hong Kong, gear up for future growth.
