[FREEPORT - May 3rd, 2002] Sunday, May 5th 2002, Freeport Harbour will welcome the world's largest cruise line ship "Voyager of the Seas" as it passes through the entrance of Freeport Harbour 500 feet wide channel.
Freeport Harbour is landlord to one of the world's leading dry-dock facilities "Grand Bahama Shipyard" (GBS), located here in Freeport Grand Bahama, Bahamas. The ship "Voyager of the Seas" will arrive Freeport Harbour for it's Annual dry-docking, general overhaul and upgrades at GBS.
The ship "Voyager of the Seas" is estimated to arrive Freeport Harbour at 1600hrs on Sunday, May 5th, 2002 for approximately 13 days with some Crewmembers aboard; which means additional tourist business for Freeport. The ship's passenger capacity is rated at 3,840 with 1,557 Cabins. The Voyager of the Seas is owned, managed and operated by Royal Caribbean Cruises (RCCL).
With a natural deep-water harbour, Freeport is located in an ideal geographical position and is able to accommodate the world's largest vessels.
The privately owned Freeport Harbour Company (FHC) is operated in a joint venture between Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH) and the Grand Bahama Development Company.
