(Hong Kong, 21 November 2004) Some 12,000 staff and family members of the Hutchison Whampoa Group enjoyed a beautiful Sunday mixed with laughter, excitement and relaxation at the Group's sports and family day. The annual event also saw participation for the first time of those group staff from Czech Republic, Lativa and Lithuania.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Group Chairman Mr Li Ka-shing said the group's businesses over the past year had been performing well and he expected to see better results with the dedication and hard work of staff. He added that the Group was now operating in 42 countries, up from 39 last year, employing a total of more than 170,000 staff worldwide.
Today's programme included a variety of performances, contests and game booths set up by member companies of the Group.
