(Hong Kong, 15 September 2010) The Li Ka Shing Foundation (LKSF) today announced a HK$300 million campaign "Love HK Your Way!" to call for everyone in Hong Kong to come together and make a difference.
"Love HK Your Way!" is a campaign of a series of programmes, and is kicked started with "Love Ideas, Love HK", a major new interactive philanthropic programme that combines powers of technology, charity and community awareness. The programme encourages Hong Kong residents to determine which projects that are beneficial to their community should receive LKSF grants.
"Love Ideas, Love HK" is Internet based and provides an easy and engaging way for residents with ideas and projects benefitting Hong Kong. Participants can create their own projects or simply go online at www.loveideas.hk and vote for those they would like to see receive LKSF grants.
"The focus of 'Love Ideas, Love HK' is inclusion and the power of unity," said Mr Li Ka-shing, Chairman of LKSF. "It is the spirit of engagement and invites creativity and participation from young and old.
"The programme welcomes all Hong Kong residents who want to take action and make a difference," said Mr Li. "With this first programme, we hope together we encourage compassion and better the lives of those who live in our community."
Those seeking grants can list their projects at www.loveideas.hk, describing why they merit support and use viral media tools to encourage voting from Hong Kong residents. Those projects receiving the most votes will be funded.
Grants are available for individual students and non-students, educational institutions, and charitable organisations. The grants categories of the programme are as follows:
