Hong Kong, June 16, 2000-----TOM.COM LIMITED ("TOM.COM") today announced the appointment of Ms Michelle Leung as the company's Chief Operating Officer.
"Bringing to TOM her strong internet-related and international management experience, Michelle will be playing a vital part in forging our company ahead in the areas of content development, e-commerce, customer relations as well as marketing and sales," said Mr Carl Chang, CEO of TOM.COM LIMITED. "I have every confidence in Michelle's abilities to energise and lead dynamic teams to create and seize significant business opportunities for TOM."
Prior to joining TOM.COM, Ms Leung was co-founder and president of iSilk.com, an Internet company based in Hong Kong and San Francisco. She has also served as vice president, business development, with News Corporation in New York where she was involved in merger and acquisition activities in the media and Internet sectors.
Internationally educated and an economist by training, Ms Leung began her business career with Lehman Brothers International in London and then joined Goldman Sachs & Company in New York where she worked on a number of large privatisations and other transactions in Germany, Taiwan and the PRC.
From 1991 to 1994 her logistics and organisational skills were put to service in key United Nations appointments in a number of countries, including South Africa and Cambodia.
Ms Leung gained her MBA from Harvard University and undergraduate degrees from the London School of Economics and Peking University.
