3 announces new mobile TV line-up

London - 18 October 2005

3 today launched an enhanced mobile TV service that will include access to a range of television channels including CNN, ITN, and Bravo.

These channels will complement 3's popular TV service, which offers a range of formats, from preview and highlights packages for primetime shows such as 'Lost' and 'The X Factor', to news round-ups and special dial-in access to live events.

Through a deal with MobiTV, 3 has expanded its TV offering with seven new channels: Kiss; Shorts TV; CNN; Extreme Sports; ITN; Cartoon Network and Bravo. The channels, which are now live, are available for a subscription of £5 a month.*

In addition, 3 is working directly with Vidzone to offer customers access to their music video TV channel for £1 a day.

3 is also set to launch its own new mobile TV channel, the first of its kind, which will show original programming and previews of what's on the service as well as news and weather updates. The channel will be free to view.

Gareth Jones said: "Customers on 3 have a TV in their pocket. But mobile TV isn't about replacing the at-home TV experience. It's about finding a unique crossover between TV and mobile to make the whole experience richer. It's more like 'TV+' - what you want to watch, when you want to watch it, in a package that fits the time you've got."

Notes to editors

* Subject to handset compatibility, the MobiTV service is available initially on Nokia 6280 and 6680 handsets.
