(Milan, 30 August 2006) Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi met Li Ka-shing, Chairman of Hutchison Whampoa Limited ("HWL"), today to exchange views on matters of mutual interest.
The meeting, joined by HWL Deputy Chairman Victor Li, Group Managing Director Canning Fok, Group Finance Director Frank Sixt and Chief Executive Officer of 3 Italia Vincenzo Novari, was part of Mr Li's business trip to Europe.
Prime Minister Prodi and Mr Li discussed the latest development of Italy, the Sino-Italian relationship, HWL's telecommunication investments in Italy through 3 Italia and future potential investments in the country.
Following the meeting with the Prime Minister, Mr Li and the HWL management also met Italian Foreign Minister Massimo D'Alema and Communicationis Minister Paolo Gentiloni to exchange views on, among other things, relations between Italy and the Far East, foreign investment as well as telecommunications and media market issues in Italy.
