Swire Properties today (Thursday, 9th March, 2000) announced the signing of ABN Amro Bank for 99,000 sq ft at Lincoln House, Island East, taking the occupancy level to 82% and making it the single largest leasing transaction commitments in the territory so far this year.
Mr Stephan G Spurr, Director & General Manager of Swire Properties, said "We are extremely pleased that ABN Amro Bank has selected Island East. Securing such an important financial organisation is significant and we were pleased that Lincoln House was able to meet ABN's exacting accommodation requirement."
Strategically located between the MTR interchange at Quarry Bay and the Taikoo Station, Island East provides office buildings with cutting edge telecommunications and communications infrastructure, housing companies as diverse as Bank of America, Fuji Bank, Hewlett-Packard, Northern Telecom and Jardine Pacific. Lately, it has become a hub for IT and telecommunication companies, amongst whom Level 3, Sunday, Nokia, Ericcson and Microsoft are prominent members of the office tenant mix.
Swire Properties has a long-term commitment in Island East, and is making continuous efforts to incorporate the latest technology in all its 11 buildings. A press briefing is scheduled for Wednesday, 15th March at which announcements will be made on its present and future telecommunications/IT strategy. As a consequence of present negotiations, it is expected that a further announcement relative to the complete leasing of the building will follow shortly.
