HAECO in First A320 Contract from China
Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company (HAECO) has undertaken the first major maintenance contract for Airbus Industrie A320 aircraft from China.
In March, the company completed "C" checks on a Sichuan Airlines A320 aircraft, under a contract covering the airline’s entire fleet of three A320s. Work is now underway on the second A320, with the final aircraft scheduled to arrive at HAECO before the end of May.
HAECO’s Director (Operations & China), P.K. Chan, said the contract with Sichuan Airlines was significant as it signalled the company’s entry into the highly potential A320 maintenance market in China.
"Sichuan Airlines is the first operator of the A320 in China, where there are now over 30 of such aircraft," said Mr Chan. "The other A320s will be requiring similar services in the months to come and we are currently in negotiation with the other operators to provide our service.
"With this first contract from China, I am confident that we are now firmly positioned in the market to explore its full potential."
