Lotte Shopping Co., Ltd. is, the headquarters in Korea, engaged in the operation of large scale shops including department stores and discount stores. The Company operates in five business segments: department store, discount store, supermarkets, electronic shop and other business segments.

1) Lotte Department Store

Rising beyond Korea's No. 1 to grow into Asia's leading global distribution corporation Lotte Department Store is Korea's undisputed leader in department store chains, operating a number of department stores, Young Plaza, and outlets in major cities across Korea. Since the opening of our flagship store in 1979, we have led the progress of Korea's distribution industry by offering classy shopping environment, quality merchandise, superior service, and advanced distribution system. During the past three decades, we have grown as Korea's leading distribution firm in terms of size, sales, and service.

We have been striving to provide topnotch service in all our branches under our customer-first management principles, while our cultural and convenience facilities have established our department stores as trend-leading multi-complexes. We are committed to nurturing future professionals in the industry by offering company-wide support on university and graduate school education, while also making new grounds in customer service-related R&D.

We pledge to carry on our efforts of expansion, new discoveries of business principles, and advanced projects. Since 2007, we have advanced into the global markets such as Russia and China, Indonesia and we plan to penetrate new markets in Vietnam in order to rise as Asia's first-rate global distribution firm.

Young Plaza and exclusive mall Avenuel The Lotte town in Myeong-dong - consisting of the headquarters of Lotte Department Store, Young Plaza and exclusive shopping mall Avenuel - is known as Myeong-dong's finest culture-shopping hub. The Young Plaza consists of over 120 fashion brands catering to the younger generation, and its contemporary architecture, modern interior and fusion food courts have enabled it to become a core fashion center for Korea's younger generation. Avenuel, a fashion trendsetter with more than 60 designer labels, has been solidifying its reputation as Korea's leading high-end designer shopping mall since its opening in March 2005.

A new multi-complex concept Lotte Department Store is a multi-complex that offers not only shopping services but also daily services for the family's rest and enjoyment. To that end, we operate cultural centers, galleries, event halls, customer service offices, infant restrooms, convenience facilities for the handicapped, spacious parking lots, wedding halls, hair salons, and a wide range of services for our customers' needs.

2) Lotte Mart

Korea's leading discount store operated by distribution giant Lotte Since opening our first discount branch in 1998, Lotte Mart has been growing through aggressive expansion while providing the highest quality products and differentiated services. We currently operate more than 60 stores nationwide, and have started tackling the overseas market from 2008 by penetrating the markets of China, Indonesia, and Vietnam.

In 2003, we introduced a PB brand "Choice L"(replaced "Wiselect" in 2011), which uses systemic product design and meticulous marketing to provide the customers with the same quality products offered at lower prices. Our other efforts include the radical MPB 'Lotterang,' which reinforces the competitiveness of PB brands while executing win-win cooperation with smaller businesses.

We have also signed a license contract with the world's largest toy chain Toys"R"Us to open the first store in 2007, and have been steadily expanding ever since.

To realize our goal of acquiring the title of 'No. 1 Retailer in Asia,' we will steadily increase the number of Korean franchise stores, while penetrating new overseas markets in Asia.

  • Lotte Mart expands into the world

  • Lotte Mart is engaged in the most dynamic overseas business operations in Korea's distribution sector, as we penetrate into markets in China, Indonesia, and Vietnam. In particular, our acquisitions of China-based Makro in December 2007, Indonesia-based Makro in October 2008, and China-based TIMES in October 2009 have brought under our control 144 stores in three countries (102 in China, 36 in Indonesia, 6 in Vietnam), securing our standing as a truly global distributor chain.

    Size-wise, we own the largest overseas operations unit in Korea's distribution industry, while adding our overseas/domestic branches makes us rank top in terms of franchise counts. We are proud to say we own an extensive distribution network to grow into a global company, as our overseas branches exceed our domestic franchises. We were able to realize this remarkable result in a mere 3 years since our overseas ambitions kicked off in 2006, and we will continue to expedite our entry into VRICs (Vietnam, Russia, India, China) countries to acquire the title of Asia's No. 1 retailer.

    3) Lotte Supermarket

    Korea's top neighborhood supermarket delivering freshness Since opening of its first branch in 2001, Lotte Supermarket has been realizing rapid growth through aggressive expansion and bold M&As. As of now, we operate 426 stores nationwide, which enabled us to gain the top rank in the industry for the number of franchise branches.

    Lotte Supermarket takes a differentiated approach from other supermarket chains, by striving to become a friendly neighborhood shopping mart stocked with daily necessities of local residents, as well as fresh produce/livestock products and fair-priced commodities. We also offer a unique one-stop service that allows for phone orders and free deliveries.

    Based on the most advanced information system and distribution methods, we have been expanding outside of the conventional bounds of supermarkets, opening mini downtown franchises and experimenting with new concepts. Also, we strive to fulfill the wide variety of consumer needs by offering PB products, low-priced packaging products, and farmer's markets.

    4) Lotte Cinema

    Multiplex striving to offer happy cultural experiences Since its establishment in 1999, the multiplex movie theater Lotte Cinema has been exerting the utmost efforts to become a leading multi-cultural complex for movie, shopping, and dining experience. As of 2011, we operate 122 movie theaters for the sensual joy of our customers.

    Through our distinguished service - ultra-real digital 3D projection tech, the Real-D system; world's first 13.1 channel installation and other advanced digital technology; differentiated facilities; and various customized services - Lotte Cinema has earned the love of customers, which fueled our continuous growth.

    Lotte Cinema is also operating high-class cinema Charlotte and artistic movie theater Arte in order to broaden the conventional movie-viewer base, while opening new theaters in China and Vietnam to expedite overseas expansion. Meanwhile, Lotte Entertainment takes charge of investment, distribution, and import/export plans for tens of movies each year. We are planning to further pursue our overseas expansion and investment/distribution efforts, in view of emerging as Asia's top entertainment company. Our long-term goal is to become Korea's leading multiplex chain that can be trusted to spread joy and fun to our customers.
