GP Batteries Offers World's Highest Capacity Li-Ion Batteries - The

30 April 2001, Singapore - Mainboard-listed battery maker, GP Batteries International Limited ("GP Batteries") announces that its Lithium Ion ("Li-Ion") battery plant in Taiwan ("GPIT") has recently commenced the mass production of a 2100mAh Lithium Ion 18650 Battery.
The 18650 Lithium Ion cell is the main workhorse for the laptop computer industry. It started life in 1992 as a 1100mAh cell and has been progressively upgraded over the years as the technology of manufacturing improves. The 2100mAh cell, affectionately known as the Millennium cell, represents a significant step in the advancement of design and implementation of the latest innovation in material sciences. GP Batteries is one of the first in the industry to mass-produce this 2100mAh battery. The current standard for an 18650 cell is 1650-1800mAh. Li-Ion Batteries, possess the highest energy and power to weight ratios of any rechargeable batteries. They are mainly used in notebook computers, camcorders and cellular phones.
