Andrews Richard Banks (Group Managing Director - Hong Kong & Australia)
Andrew Banks was born in London and immigrated to Australia in 1972 where he began his career as an actor. It wasn't long before Andrew discovered his passion for Human Resources and took the opportunity to travel the United Kingdom, Norway, the United States, Europe and Africa to build on his human resources experience - experience that would eventually see him start his own business in Australia in 1985 via Morgan & Banks. This was the just the beginning of Andrew's adventure in the Human Resources and Recruitment industry in Australia and abroad. Today, Andrew is the largest shareholder of Talent2 and also works within the business as Managing Director. His day to day role is as Managing Partner of the Executive and Board Search division, Talent Partners. This role keeps Andrew connected to the business and in touch with clients and their senior executive appointments. Andrew launched Talent2 International (TWO) in 2003, a publicly traded company on the ASX, to focus on HR Outsourcing and Executive Search and Selection. Talent2 International is now a team of 1,700 professionals operating in 19 countries - a result of both organic growth and 15 impressive acquisitions. Before this time he worked with US listed company TMP (a result of the merger with Morgan & Banks) in New York as Global Director. It was an exciting time after a successful 14 years at the helm of Morgan & Banks which he founded with Geoff Morgan in 1985. Morgan & Banks grew to become the dominant recruitment force in Australia and Asia, and commanded 17% market share. At the point the company went public in 1995 sales had grown to over A$800m, before its merger with TMP/Monster.com in 1999. Formally educated in Biological Sciences in the UK, Andrew's true education came on the job, developed from real world experience. In 2004 Andrew and Geoff Morgan were recognised formally for their sustained success in business via the Ernst & Young Master Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Andrew's early career as an actor allowed him to be part of The Old Tote Theatre Company (later inherited by NIDA, where Andrew is now Chairman of the Foundation). His acting skills inform his good communication skills, knowing what to say and how to say it being especially relevant to Andrew's need to inspire and impact favourably on his people. A born risk taker, Andrew is passionate about the need for entrepreneurial spirit to be nurtured in a nation - he knows firsthand the willingness of people to take risks grows wealth and creativity in a society. |
