(July 13, 2000 - Hong Kong) - CEC International Holdings Limited ("CEC International" or "the Group"; HKSE: 0759) today announced its annual results for the year ended April 30, 2000. During the year under review, turnover was approximately HK$271,292,000, an increase of 39.88% over the preceding year. Profit attributable to shareholders was over HK$41,910,000, representing an increase of approximately 77.28% from the same period last year. Gross profit margin was approximately 34.3% and earnings per share was 24.12 HK cents.

CEC successfully set record highs for its earnings during the 1999/2000 financial year, thanks to its ability to capture and respond to the trend and development in the global electronics industry.

Over the past year, demand for modern handheld electronic communication products such as mobile phones and personal digital assistants (PDA) has been gaining fast momentum, leading to rising demand for miniaturised electronic components as well. Accordingly, CEC, which specialises in the design, development and manufacture of a wide range of coils for I.T., audio, visual and telecommunication products use, has launched families of miniature components. It also expanded production facilities for wire-wound chip inductors and fixed inductor, too.

Due to the digital revolution in the audio-visual sector, CEC has also invested into new, fully-automated production facilities for the manufacture of power inductors, radio frequency transformers, intermediate frequency transformers and toroidal transformers.

CEC's commitment in enhancing its global presence was also further evidenced in September 1999 by establishing a new research and development center in Tokyo. In addition, a new representative office in Bangalore was set up in anticipation of the booming electronic industries in India. In order to enhance its customer services further, CEC also made successful entry in March 2000 to the manufacture of electrolytic capacitors (E-Cap), a kind of electronic component complementary to coils. The diversification can also bring in synergistic effect to the Group as a whole as both coils and capacitors are basic elements of electronic circuits.

Mr. Lam Wai Chun, Chairman of CEC, noted, "The mission of the Group's management is to grow the business in a manner to ensure delivery of superior value to all our stakeholders. We have planned to invest into new production facilities for the manufacture of manganese zinc series - ferrite cores to different components in computers. "

"Also, the Group is developing e-commerce functionality for its 'on-line sales' system and product specification simulation system. We are actively exploring ways to reduce costs in our supply chain and plans to implement further vertical integration. One of the Group's priorities in the coming year will be to enlarge our global market coverage. Following the great business opportunities emerging in overseas markets, further rooms for the Group's growth and expansion are expected to be coming soon," he added.
