Annual Report 2021
ANNUAL REPORT 2021 95 2. SUMMARY OF SIGNIFICANT ACCOUNTING POLICIES (CONTINUED) 2.2 Consolidation (continued) (ii) Associates and joint ventures (continued) The Group discontinues the use of the equity method from the date when the investment ceases to be an associate or a joint venture, or when the investment is classified as held for sale. When the Group retain an interest of the former associate or joint venture and the retained interest is a financial asset within the scope of HKFRS 9, the Group measures the retained interest at fair value at that date and the fair value is regarded as its fair value on initial recognition. The difference between the previous carrying amount of the associate or joint venture attributable to the retained interest and its fair value is included in the determination of the gain or loss on disposal of the associate or joint venture. In addition, the Group accounts for all amounts previously recognised in other comprehensive income in relation to that associate or joint venture on the same basis as would be required if that associate or joint venture had directly disposed of the related assets or liabilities. Therefore, if a gain or loss previously recognised in other comprehensive income by that associate or joint venture would be reclassified to the consolidated statement of profit or loss on the disposal of the related assets or liabilities, the Group reclassifies the gain or loss from equity to profit or loss (as a reclassification adjustment) upon disposal/partial disposal of the relevant associate or joint venture. If the ownership interest in an associate or a joint venture is reduced but the Group continues to use the equity method, the difference between the carrying amount of the underlying assets and liabilities attributable to the interests disposed of and the consideration received, if any, is credited or charged to the profit or loss as gain/loss on disposal of interest in associates and/or joint ventures. In addition, the proportionate share of the amounts relating to that reduction in ownership interest previously recognised in other comprehensive income is reclassified to profit or loss if that gain or loss would be reclassified to profit or loss on the disposal of the related assets or liabilities. 2.3 Segment reporting Operating segments are reported in a manner consistent with the internal reporting provided to the chief operating decision-maker (“CODM”). The CODM, who is responsible for allocating resources and assessing performance of the operating segments, has been identified as the key management team of the Company that makes strategic decisions. 2.4 Foreign currency translation (i) Functional and presentation currency Items included in the financial statements of each of the Group’s entities are measured using the currency of the primary economic environment in which the entity operates (the “functional currency”).
