Founder Current Partners Include IBM and Industrial & Commercial Bank of China
(Hong Kong - October 10, 2000) After reforms lasting for two years or so, Founder Holdings Limited (SEHK: 418) ("Founder Holdings") now heads for success brought about mostly by technology renovations at Founder. Two of its subsidiaries - Beijing Founder Electronics Co., Ltd. ("Founder Electronics") and Beijing Founder Order Computer System Co., Ltd. ("Founder Order")- have both displayed its leadership status in the e-business domain. Both companies have lately entered into close partnership with IBM, so as to develop and promote e-business solutions. What's more, Founder Order has also formed a strategic alliance with the world's tenth biggest bank, Industrial & Commercial Bank of China (ICBC). The past six months of the year 2000 has seen Founder Order's industrial solutions achieving a great number of millions-valued contracts.
In June this year, IBM did a worldwide launching of its DB2 Universal DB Version 7.1 (DB2 UDB v7.1), which promises to deliver multiple functions such as corporate information gateway, e-business as well as network data management. Its mighty XML integration capabilities can swiftly effect B2B electronic transactions between ISPs, ICPs, ASPs as well as enterprises, increasing e-transaction speed by over tenfold. Since then, in order to jointly promote e-business solutions for all industries in China, IBM has been working closely with its China partners, including Founder Electronics and Founder Order. Founder Electronics, together with IBM, recently launched a IBM-Founder ICS Internet Content-publish System. Meanwhile, Founder Order-developed Banking Data Warehouse Management System also became one of the projects to be promoted together with IBM.
IBM-Founder ICS Internet Content-publish System Version 2.0 delivers a multi-functional online publishing platform to media websites, enterprise info-webs as well as individual info-webs, which comprises of various functions such as (website) channel management, content editing as well as automatic distributing. As for Founder Order, their banking database management system can provide all-around services, such as info storage, info processing as well as info analyzing, for the financial circle, including banks, insurance companies, securities, etc.. The systems serve as a base-level data management platform for online banks/insurance companies.
Furthermore, Founder Order have entered into a strategic alliance with the world's tenth biggest bank, Industrial & Commercial Bank of China (ICBC). According to their agreements, ICBC will treat Founder Order as a long-term technology cooperation partner of ICBC, giving Founder Order preferential contracting treatment in operations such as whole-project outsourcing, system consulting, application developing, network integration and online banking. Founder Order, in reciprocity, will construct a nationwide task force of 400 technicians, so as to provide ICBC with all-around timely services.
ICBC is actually China's biggest state-owned commercial bank. Currently having 70,000 branches altogether, its total capital value has reached 2800 billion yuan (RMB), with its IT investment closing up to 5 billion yuan (RMB). It was as early as 1993 that Founder Order started providing technical support for ICBC. Founder Order-developed systems in credit card/ IC card, image management, computer stamp identification, etc. have been widely adopted by ICBC branches all over China. Other systems, such as the client service platform, the data warehouse system, the IP voice system and the call-center system, although still under development, have great potentials to be adopted by ICBC.
According to Mr Lo Siu Yu, Executive Director at Founder Holdings and Chairman at Founder Order, they have made break-through progress in promoting Founder Order's industrial solutions over the past six months of the year 2000. Big orders achieved include Jiangshu Agricultural Credit Union's IC-card system, Guangdong ICBC's online stamp identification system, Shenzhen Industrial and Commercial Bureau's data storage and retrieval system, China Merchant's Bank's automatic banking system, Beijing Construction Bank's online corporate banking system, Citic Industrial Bank's online payment system, China Public Security Ministry's nationwide netmeeting system and Southwest Securities' online transaction system, etc. The aggregate amount of last six months' contracts adds up to 300 million dollars (HKD).
"As for Founder Order's future prospects", Mr Lo disclosed, "we have set it as a two/three-year short-term objective to become the No. 1 system integrator of China's system integration industry". "And our clients", he went on, "will come from all industries, such as banking, insurance, telecommunications, power, plus the PLA and government departments."
When asked about the possible effect China's WTO entry might have on Founder Order, Mr. Lo pointed out, with great confidence, that it will only bring about greater opportunities to increase Founder Order's competing capacities on a new market. He reasoned that China's WTO entry will definitely bring in international banking giants, who are bound to use service provided by China's leading system integrators.
All told, as China's biggest software developing enterprise, Founder Holdings Limited will come out - like a shining star - as a most-preferred technology and service provider to companies at home and abroad.
