(Hong Kong - 16 May 2001) Founder Holdings Limited (SEHK: 418) today announces that one of its PRC subsidiaries, Beijing Founder Electronics Co., Ltd. ("Beijing Founder Electronics") has recently launched its age-leading network publishing solutions, Founder Apabi eBook Solutions ("Founder Apabi"). Facilitating reading on electronic display devices, the solutions look to bring us along to a whole new no-paper reading era.
Adopting "Founder Apabi", the publishing industry is to exhibit a new look. Without using paper at all, we first store authors' works in digital format. Making use of other publishing software developed by Beijing Founder Electronics, network publishers then convert authors' digitalized works to eBooks in such format as displayable on PC, PDA, Laptop computers or other electronic display devices, before distributing to network bookstores or other network channels. Now, with great ease, these eBooks can be read and downloaded (for reading later on) by all licensee readers worldwide. Readers of eBooks can practise the same reading habit as they previously did with paper-books, e.g. adding bookmarks, underlining and annotating here and there. What's more, eBooks come with their specific functions, such as online eBook purchasing, personal eBook library and easy eBook categorization.
Ever since its introduction to market, "Founder Apabi" has been receiving great attention from many renowned PRC publishers, including Post-secondary School Press (

As announced at the launching ceremony, "Founder Apabi" come in a series of products, each catering to one specific aspect of the entire network publishing process: besides "Apabi Reader", the one exhibited at the ceremony, "Apabi Maker", "Apabi Writer", "Apabi Rights Server" and "Apabi Retail Server" are soon to be released.
