talent, we have further partnered with the Joint School Music Association to launch a musical instruments recycling programme and all collected instruments would be donated to secondary and primary schools, low- income families and people in need. Through this programme, not only could the instrument “RE-LIVE”, but more youngsters could also have the opportunity to get inspired and enjoy playing music! Moreover, Mira Place has created a “Busking Night” stage to support passionate local buskers by providing a performance platform to realize their dreams and tell their stories through music on the stage. In addition, we provided discounted venues for the pop-up markets organized by Dreamcatcher, LocoLoco and Youth Employment Start in Mira Place to support local designers in presenting their handmade and creative products to the public. (III) Promoting Harmonious Community The Group cares for vulnerable and minority groups and recognizes that understanding and fulfilling their needs means a great help for them. We maintain long-term relationship with various charity bodies and support their efforts by donation, sponsorship, providing venue for free or at discounted rates and partnering with various community groups to organize activities to help people in need. Expressing our Care Although the number of volunteer activities has been reduced due to the social distancing measures during the year, we have kept on exploring ways to express our care and promote social harmony. This year, Miramar has provided a range of support to the charity sales events organized by Cookie Smiles to raise funds for local charities, one of which is “Impact HK”, an NGO that provides holistic support to people experiencing homelessness. As such, Mira Place has acted as the venue sponsor for its Christmas Popup, and our Culinary Director has also collaborated with the city’s top chefs to design the gingerbread man cookie for the “Gingerbread for Good” Popup. In addition, Mira Dining has also supported the Tung Wah Hospital - Celebrity Chefs Charity Dinner, and our master chef has cooked his signature dishes in the event to raise funds for Tung Wah Hospital. Furthermore, we have invited trainers from the Hong Kong Fire Services Department to organize the “Press to shock - Save a life” CPR & AED Course this year, every participating staff member could be equipped with this life-saving skill to provide emergency help to the people in need. Supporting & Participation in Charity and Community Activities This year, our staff continued to participate in Red Cross Blood Donation Day, ORBIS World Sight Day and Community Chest Dress Casual Day. As a step forward to promote blood donation, Mira Place has provided venue and marketing supports to the blood donation event of Hong Kong Red Cross this year, despite our own staff, we have further encouraged our retail and office tenants to join the event. Besides, Mira Place has organized “Gift for Good” event, which provided a platform for our customers to redeem charity vouchers with their membership points and the vouchers amount has been donated to UNICEF. In addition, during the “A Journey of Sharing” event period, the mall has made donation to Food Angel on a portion of our members’ spending in our mall’s restaurants. (IV) Care of Environment We value the importance of environmental protection and strive to minimize undesirable impact on the environment for the community’s well-being. We are constantly involved in various activities organized by different environmental protection organizations. Take Actions Since 2013, our hotels have been collaborating with Food Angel and Foodlink Foundation to donate leftover food to people in need. In 2021, we have donated over 492kg of leftover food to Food Angel and Foodlink Foundation. Mira Dining has supported different festival food collection campaigns hosted by FOOD-CO since 2017 in response to the “Save & Share” culture. During the year, we have donated a total of 2,224 pieces of festive food items, including Chinese New Year puddings, rice dumplings and moon cakes, to Conservative Baptist Bradbury Social Service Centre, the Against Elderly Abuse of Hong Kong, Pok Oi Hospital Wai Yin Association Family Multiple Intelligences Centre, People’s Talents Bank Project, etc., through FOOD-CO. 045 Environmental, Social and Governance Report Miramar Hotel and Investment Company, Limited Annual Report 2021
