Shui On Wins "Good Housekeeping Campaign" Silver Award

Hong Kong, December 21, 2001 - Shui On Construction and Materials Limited ("SOCAM", stock code: 983) once again won the Silver Award among more than 200 organisations from various industries in the 2001 "Good Housekeeping Campaign" with its Yau Tong Estate Redevelopment Phase 5 project. The project team also gave a lively presentation at the award presentation to share its experience in good housekeeping and won the Best Presentation Gold Award. Established by the Occupational Safety and Health Council (OSHC) in 1999, the annual Good Housekeeping Campaign aims at improving the working environment and occupational safety and health standards as well as eliminating accidents through promoting the 5S practice in the workplace. Winning the Silver Award for two consecutive years is a testimony to SOCAM's high standards of safety and health management.

SOCAM constantly reviews its work procedures and methods and conducts frequent training and promotions to raise employees' awareness of occupational health and safety issues. With its successful implementation of the Safe Working Cycle, the company has also won four gold awards and 19 silver, bronze and merits awards recently from the OSHC. Moreover, SOCAM has launched an internal "Innovation Excellence Awards" to encourage all staff to find new ways to further improve safety standards as well as to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
