Shui On awarded a new HK$177.68 million contract by CUHK

(Hong Kong, 15 May 2003) Shui On Construction Company Limited (SOC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Shui On Construction And Materials Limited (SOCAM; stock code: 983), has been awarded a new contract worth HK$177.68 million by the Chinese University of Hong Kong for the construction of the extension facilities for the Clinical Department of the Medical Faculty at Prince of Wales Hospital.

The project includes the construction of one 14-storey L-shaped extension building with an eight-storey-high structural steel link bridge connecting to the existing hospital block, and all the associated utilities diversion, underground drainage and external works, as well as the design and construction of the pile foundation. It is scheduled to be completed in February 2006.

SOC specialises in the construction of commercial and institutional projects for the government, major institutions and private developers. The company has obtained ISO 9002, ISO 14001 and Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) 18001 certification.

SOCAM, a member of the Shui On Group, was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 1997 and is engaged in construction, construction materials and property development in Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland. Apart from SOCAM, the Shui On Group has a separate, non-listed property arm with investments in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Beijing, Hangzhou, Guangzhou and New York.
