Nanjing BC Extends Coca-Cola Bottling Facility

Nanjing BC Foods Co. Ltd. today marked the completion of a new extension facility for its Coca-Cola bottling operation in Jiangsu Province, Mainland China.

Located at Pu Kou High & New Technology Industries Development Zone, the newly constructed plant occupies an area of 13,300 square metres and will complement Nanjing BC's existing bottling facility.

Established in 1989, Nanjing BC is the principal franchisee for Coca-Cola products in Jiangsu, manufacturing and distributing a range of Coca-Cola brands, including Coca-Cola, Sprite, Fanta and Smart, with a sales network that extends throughout the region. The company has also become the first major bottled water manufacturer in Nanjing, producing Tian Yu Di mineralised water.

Nanjing BC is a joint venture between BC Development Co. Ltd. (60%), China National Cereals, Oils and Foodstuffs Import and Export Corporation (20%), and Nanjing General Factory of Essence and Perfume (20%). BC Development is jointly owned by Swire Beverages Ltd. and China International Trust & Investment Corporation (CITIC).

Speaking at the ceremony to market its completion, Mr. John Slosar, Managing Director of Swire Beverages, said, "The Pu Kou facility places Nanjing BC in a good position to take advantage of the rapidly expanding market for soft drinks in Jiangsu; we are confident that Nanjing BC will achieve excellent growth in sales and profits in the years to come."

The opening of this new extension brings the number of Coca-Cola bottling plants operated by Swire Beverages in Mainland China to eleven.
