Peter Sutch, Chairman of Swire Pacific Ltd, announced the appointment of James Hughes-Hallett as Deputy Chairman with effect from 1st June 1998.
James Hughes-Hallett, 48, joined the Swire Group in April 1976 and has spent time with the Group in Japan, Australia and Hong Kong. His current responsibilities are as Executive Director of the Trading and the Marine Services Divisions of Swire Pacific. Mr. Hughes-Hallett will succeed Peter Sutch as Chairman of Swire Pacific on 1st May 1999 when the latter leaves Hong Kong to join the board of John Swire & Sons in London as an Executive Director.
It was also announced that Keith Kerr, currently Managing Director of Swire Properties, will be appointed Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive of Swire Properties effective 1st June 1998.
Effective 1st September 1998 Martin Cubbon, currently General Manager Corporate Finance for Cathay Pacific, will join the board of Swire Pacific. He will also succeed Peter Johansen as Finance Director for the Swire Group in Hong Kong. Peter Johansen remains a director of Swire Pacific but is leaving Hong Kong in September to join the board of John Swire & Sons in London as an Executive Director.
