Swire Properties today (9 November, 1999) announced the signing of Cable & Wireless HKT as a tenant at Oxford House, constituting the largest single leasing commitment in Hong Kong this year and overtaking in size the previously announced commitment of Time Warner to the building which amounted to 133,000 sq. ft.
Cable & Wireless HKT will take up approximately 141,000 sq .ft. (lettable) on 13 floors in the lower portion of Oxford House at TaiKoo Place in Island East, bringing the building occupancy level to 75%.
Oxford House provides 480,000 sq. ft. of office space and 180 carparking spaces and is the latest addition to Island East, the preferred commercial address for over 300 local and multi-national companies occupying six million square feet of prime office space. There are overhead walkways linking Oxford House directly to the other seven office towers of TaiKoo Place and easy access to both the Quarry Bay and Taikoo MTR stations.
Oxford House is designed and finished to a standard of excellence and equipped with the latest technology. The building reflects the highest standards of environmental design and specifications and has received an "Excellent" rating from the Hong Kong Building Environmental Assessment Method (HK-BEAM). The office building has received its occupation permit, and the first tenants are planning to open for business within this month.
