Annual Report 2024

209 2024 Annual Report Transport International Holdings Limited NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS (Expressed in Hong Kong dollars unless otherwise indicated) 1 Material accounting policies (continued) (n) Credit losses and impairment of assets (continued) (iv) Interim financial reporting and impairment Under the Listing Rules, the Group is required to prepare an interim financial report in compliance with HKAS 34, Interim financial reporting , in respect of the first six months of the financial year. At the end of the interim period, the Group applies the same impairment testing, recognition, and reversal criteria as it would at the end of the financial year (see notes 1(n)(i) and 1(n)(ii)). Impairment losses recognised in an interim period in respect of goodwill are not reversed in a subsequent period. This is the case even if no loss, or a smaller loss, would have been recognised had the impairment been assessed only at the end of the financial year to which the interim period relates. (o) Spare parts Spare parts are included within current assets and stated at cost, using the first-in-first-out method. Provision is made for obsolescence where appropriate. (p) Accounts receivable A receivable is recognised when the Group has an unconditional right to receive consideration. A right to receive consideration is unconditional if only the passage of time is required before payment of that consideration is due. Accounts receivable are initially recognised at its transaction price and subsequently stated at amortised cost, using the effective interest method and including an allowance for credit losses (see note 1(n)(i)), except where the receivables are interest-free loans made to related parties without any fixed repayment terms or the effect of discounting would be immaterial. In such cases, the receivables are stated at cost less allowance for credit losses. (q) Interest-bearing borrowings Interest-bearing borrowings are measured initially at fair value less transaction costs. Subsequent to initial recognition, interest-bearing borrowings are stated at amortised cost using the effective interest method. Interest expense is recognised in accordance with the Group’s accounting policy for borrowing costs (see note 1(v)). (r) Accounts payable and accruals Accounts payable and accruals are initially recognised at fair value and are subsequently stated at amortised cost, except where the payables are interest-free loans advanced from related parties without any fixed repayment terms or the effect of discounting would be immaterial, in which case they are stated at invoiced amounts. (s) Bank deposits and cash Bank deposits and cash comprise cash at bank and on hand, demand deposits with banks and other financial institutions, and short-term, highly liquid investments that are readily convertible into known amounts of cash and which are subject to an insignificant risk of changes in value, having been within three months of maturity at acquisition. Bank deposits and cash are assessed for ECL in accordance with the policy set out in note 1(n)(i).
